This year London Book Fair celebrates its 45th anniversary, and as well as being a hub of sales and rights activity, it also has its very own awards ceremony. The LBF International Excellence Awards are held in partnership with the Publishers Association, and the ceremony aims to recognise publishing talent outside the UK.

We are delighted to announce that this year Auckland University Press took home ‘The Academic and Professional Publisher Award’, so congratulations to Sam and team on a very well-deserved win!

Sam Elworthy, Director at Auckland University Press, said of winning the award: “It has been a huge thrill to win the London Book Fair Academic and Professional Publisher Award. At the London Book Fair, you’re surrounded by thousands of publishers from around the world—big to small, trade to education, Africa to America. In the midst of all that great work going on, it’s humbling to have our work at Auckland University Press recognised by the international publishing community. Getting back up the morning after, finding publishers around the world excited about co-editions of books like Robyn Toomath’s Fat Science and Warren Moran’s New Zealand Wine, you realise again that we can play a full part in the international life of the mind from our small islands.”
